The Green Bay Blizzard bounced back from their season opening loss, defeating the visiting Iowa Barnstormers 35-24 on Saturday night at the Resch Center in Green Bay. It was the second game in just a six day span for the Blizzard, who now enter their first bye week of the season sitting at 1-1.
Saturday’s contest was a back-and-forth, low-scoring affair, the Blizzard trailing 17-14 at the half. Iowa added to their lead in the 3rd on a 4-play, 36-yard drive, to claim a 24-14 advantage. The Blizzard countered on the ensuing kickoff with Jalyn Cagle going the distance, a 42-yard score that sparked 25 unanswered points for Green Bay. Cagle bookended the scoring run with a 1-yard rushing TD with just 1:15 remaining to seal the victory.
The Blizzard (1-1) return to action on April 6th for their first road game of the season, traveling to battle the Quad City Steamwheelers (1-0).
