Independent Presidential candidate, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., appears to be getting closer to naming a running mate. The man with one of the most recognizable names in American politics is reportedly narrowing in on another household name, albeit of a different vein, to share his ticket: NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Kennedy informed the New York Times that Rodgers is among the vice presidential considerations at the top of his list. Former Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura has also reportedly made Kennedy’s short pile of preferences. It is not clear if there has been a formal offer made to anyone among Kennedy’s considerations, though his decision may take shape sooner rather than later. In many states, an independent candidate seeking access to the ballot must first name a running mate.
Rodgers has not been shy about sharing his views on social and political topics in recent years, and he would bring definite star power to the Kennedy campaign. Former professional wrestling superstar Ventura would bring much of the same, in addition to political experience in the independent arena, the label under which he won the race for Minnesota governor in 1998.
